Compact, Simple to Use

Cellometer Auto takes up almost no bench space and is incredibly easy to use. It's pre-configured for hundreds of cell types, and configuring for new cell types is just as easy. Because it works with your PC or laptop, you get a full screen display, easy data input, and the ability to import/export data to a local or network location. Cellometer also runs on Intel based Macs running Parallels/WinXP.

Fast Results

Because it can generate cell counts, size measurements, and concentration calculations in approximately 30 seconds, Cellometer enables you to generate data many times faster than manual counting.

Minimal Sample Prep

Disposable Counting Chambers is the only consumable needed to run Cellometer. Only 20uL of sample is required, and the chambers load in seconds, and when done can be disposed, eliminating the need for cover slips and washing between samples.

Trypan Blue Viability

Trypan Blue treated cells are automatically counted as live or dead, and the percentage viability is automatically calculated. Live counted cells are indicated by a green circle on-screen, and Dead counted cells by a red-circle.

On-screen Imaging

No two cells are the same, which is why live cell morphology can be immediately viewed on-screen, and counted cells are indicated on-screen for further analysis. The counting results are indicated for each cell and images can be saved or exported for a secure record of all of your cell counts.

Cell Size Measurement

Unlike manual counting, Cellometer measures both individual and mean cell sizes, and can generate size distribution histograms for all counted cells. Multiple histograms can be overlaid for determining changes in cell sizes over time.

Advanced Imaging Technology

Microscope quality optics and advanced vision software ensure that even the most challenging samples can be counted. This includes counting specific cells in a heterogeneous sample, declustering cell clumps (such as MCF7), counting irregular shaped cells, and excluding cellular debris.

Save & Export Data, Images, and Graphs

Keeping records of your research is critical. With the click of a button, Cellometer instantly saves counting results, cell images, graphs, and data to a clipboard, local or network location.

Local, World Class Support

Nexcelom support is provided from of our Boston area headquarters. Our support team includes PhD's and experts in cell biology, digital imaging systems, and software, and are available via phone or email to help setup, configure and use your Cellometer automated cell counter. We also offer online/onsite training & web based remote instrument control to assist with your cell counting applications.
Cellometer’s automatic cell counting principle is based on imaging cytometry. Cells in suspension are spread into a thin layer of liquid when loaded in a Disposable Counting Chamber. The instrument is connected to a computer via USB 2.0 connection and acquires cell images from multiple locations of the counting chamber. The software then analyzes these images and determines cell concentration, trypan viability and cell size. Results & cell images are displayed on-screen and in approximately 30 seconds.

1. Load Counting Chamber

Simply pipette 20uL into one side of a disposable counting chamber. It's nearly impossible to overload or underload, and capillary action automatically spreads your sample into a monolayer. Each slide holds two samples and feature a large, white writing surface for sample identification.

2. Insert Silde

The counting chamber is loaded into a slot on the front of the instrument. Click 'Display Image'', then 'Count' to begin counting.

3. Get Data

Less than 30 seconds later, counted images are displayed on-screen, as well as live cell count, dead cell count, concentration, and mean size. Cell size histograms and other data can be instantly displayed, and all data & images can then be saved, or exported.

Other Features

Configuring for Different Cell Types

Cellometer features more than 250 pre-programmed cell type parameters. New cell types are easily added via a New Cell Type Wizard or manual configuration. Configuring or fine tuning Cellometer for your specific assay needs is simple and straightforward, and our Support Team is always available to assist.

Declustering

Cellometer's advanced imaging can locate and accurately count cells in clumps or clusters. This feature is adjustable for your particular needs, and can also be turned off completely to count the number of clumps in a sample.

Exclude Cellular Debris

Because Cellometer recognizes cells based on size, brightness, and morphology- cellular debris can be excluded from counting results ensuring accurate results.

Heterogeneous Cell Samples

Minimum and maximum cell size parameters can be set to only count specific cells in a heterogeneous sample. This is deal for counting dendritic cells cultured from PBMC, or counting PBMCs amongst platelets.

Irregular Cell Shapes

Cellometer can recognize and count irregular shaped cells by adjusting the roundness cell setting. Ideal for counting RD cells or activated T-cells.

Changes in Cell Diameter

Because Cellometer generates individual cell size measurements, multiple samples can be overlaid on one histogram, enabling analysis of change in cell diameter over time, such as when counting SF9 or SF21 cells. Saved images can be viewed and counted later to analyze changes in morphology over time.
