Nexcelom has an immediate opening for a Sales Development Representative [SDR] in our Lawrence, Massachusetts Headquarters. The SDR will partner with marketing and sales to grow revenue and drive in-house lead generation, appointment setting, lead qualification, remote demos and sales support to the Field Sales team. This position requires heavy outbound phone calling, qualification, consultative selling skills and tight collaboration with the Field Sales team to generate new clients and maintain the existing customer base. The SDR will be expected to manage a pipeline and report on qualification and call activity.


  • Manage assigned customers, sales territories and products to meet or exceed revenue targets
  • Generate new qualified sales opportunities via cold calling, email, market research, marketing campaigns, and the like
  • Qualify customers based on thorough knowledge of the Nexcelom product line
  • Leverage prospecting tools and outbound calling techniques to schedule and perform online demonstrations with identified target accounts by phone and email
  • Ensure timely and appropriate follow up on leads and prospects
  • Manage prospects through all stages of the sales process with heavier emphasis on early and late stages
  • Support sales activities and projects as assigned for strategic market growth and build sales pipeline leads, including research projects and marketing content development and support
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion; use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately
  • Leverage personal effectiveness through excellent communication
  • Reliably route high-quality, qualified opportunities to the Field Sales team for further development
  • Use CRM to ensure new sales leads are properly recorded, nurtured for follow-up, distributed, and reported using reports available in the tool;
  • Report on lead generation and sales activity metrics
  • Support the Field Sales team by assisting with sales processes and activities as assigned
  • Work with the support team to perform online training sessions for evaluation customers
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences, business or related discipline
  • Inside sales experience preferred;
  • At least one (1) year experience in cold calling (from internship is acceptable)
  • Experience in a Life Science environment preferred
  • Must have an understanding of sales & marketing terminology
  • Demonstrated history of achieving call volume success and revenue quota
  • Familiar with MS Office products: Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Equipped with excellent sales and communications skills – both written and verbal communication;
  • Target-driven and proven self-starter with ability to deliver on targets without constant supervision;
  • Good team player with ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach and demonstrated ability to multi-task and think creatively;
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome objections through value proposition positioning to customer needs
  • Strong organizational and analytic skills, time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
  • Flexible and open to change and new information; adapts behavior and work methods accordingly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence others
  • Can be relied upon to ensure that projects within areas of specific responsibility are completed in an appropriate and timely manner, and acknowledges mistakes, learns from those events, and is able to move forward productively
  • Identifies and analyzes problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information
