Download the Product Insert ViaStain™ CFDA-AM Yeast Vitality Stain CSK-0125-200uL The ViaStain™ CFDA-AM Yeast Vitality Kit enables the user to quantitatively distinguish metabolically active Lager and Ale yeast in pure cultures and in cultures containing debris such as beer slurries using the Cellometer system. The stain contains a solution of a cell-permeant esterase substrate, CFDA-AM (5-Carboxyfluorescein Diacetate, Acetoxymethyl Ester), that fluoresces green when hydrolyzed by enzymatically active Lager and Ale yeast. The percent of yeasts that are actively fermenting during production can be determined and used to optimize the fermentation process during beer brewing, for example. Learn more about Yeast [...]
Download the Product Insert ViaStain Yeast Dilution Buffer CS0-0110-500ML The ViaStain™ Yeast Dilution Buffer in combination with the ViaStain™ Yeast Live / Dead Cell staining solution enables the user to quantitatively distinguish live and dead yeast in pure cultures and in cultures containing debris such as corn mash using the Cellometer system. The Dilution Buffer is used to dilute the yeast sample in order to promote and optimize live / dead fluorescent staining of the yeast cells. Learn more about Yeast Viability and Vitality Reagents
Download the Product Insert ViaStain™ PI Staining Solution for Dead Nucleated Cells CS1-0109-5mL The ViaStain™ PI Staining Solution enables the user to quantitatively distinguish live and dead cells in pure cultures using the Cellometer system. Propidium iodide (PI) is a membrane exclusion nucleic acid dye that only enters cells with compromised membranes (dead cells). When cell counting is performed using both bright-field and fluorescent imaging, cells that fluoresce in red are counted as dead, while the bright-field image provides the total cell count. The Cellometer software utilizes the total cell count and dead cell count to calculate percent viability. Learn [...]
Download the Product Insert ViaStain™ Yeast Kit for Live/Dead Concentration CSK-0102-2mLCSK-0102-10mL The ViaStain™ Yeast Live / Dead Cell Counting Kit enables the user to quantitatively distinguish live and dead yeast in pure cultures and in cultures containing debris such as corn mash using the Cellometer system. The kit contains a solution of the green-fluorescent nucleic acid stain, acridine orange, and the red-fluorescent nucleic acid stain, propidium iodide, and a dilution buffer. Propidium iodide is a membrane exclusion dye that only enters cells with compromised membranes while acridine orange penetrates all cells in a population. When both dyes are present in [...]
Download the Product Insert ViaStain™ Hoechst/PI Viability Kit CSK-V0005-1 A no wash assay kit designed to determine cell viability by staining dead cells with PI and all cell with Hoechst 33342. Learn more about Cell Counting / Viability Reagents
Download the Product Insert Hoechst 33342 CS1-0128-5mL Hoechst 33342 is a fluorescent dye, excited by UV light, that binds to DNA. Hoechst 33342 is more lipophilic than other Hoechst dyes and therefore can enter live cells more easily. Learn more about Cell Counting / Viability Reagents
Download the Product Insert DAPI CS1-0127-2mL DAPI is a fluorescent dye that binds to DNA. Excited by UV light, and may be used to stain live and fixed cells. Learn more about Cell Counting / Viability Reagents
Download the Product Insert ViaStain™ Calcein AM / PI Cell Viability Kit CSK-0118 The Calcein-AM/PI Cell Vitality and Viability kit enables measurement of the number and concentration of both metabolically active calcein positive and dead PI-positive cells Learn more about Cell Counting / Viability Reagents
Download the Product Insert Cell permeable viability dye. In live cells, non-fluorescent Calcein AM is converted by cellular esterases into green fluorescing cells CS1-0119 Calcein AM (Calcein acetoxymethyl ester) is a cell permeable, non-fluorescent compound. Upon crossing the cell membrane, calcein-AM is rapidly hydrolyzed by cellular esterases inside live cells. The hydrolysis cleaves the AM group, converting the non-fluorescent calcein AM to a strongly green fluorescing calcein. Because the created calcein is more hydrophilic it is trapped inside the cells with intact membranes. Cells that do not possess active cytoplasmic esterases are unable to convert calcein AM to calcein, and [...]
