Informational Webinar

In this technical informational webinar, Dr. Leo Chan, R&D Manager at Nexcelom Bioscience will review yeast viability, and specifically address challenges that arise when working with complex or messy samples. This session was developed and presented with breweries and brewers in mind, to help discuss various solutions. He starts by looking at why it is important to determine yeast viability for fermentation and differentiates between simple and complex samples. Then Dr. Chan reviews various detection methods – both traditional methods and the Cellometer X2 image cytometry method, to see advantages/disadvantages of each. From there, the Acridine Orange and Propidium Iodide yeast viability method is explained, reviewed and discussed, before covering validation of the viability detection methods.
